On the road again

Well I'm sitting in the lobby of the Long Beach Marriot using their computer. When I first started using it, I thought to myself "Holy shit, this connection is fast". A quick surf over to Broadband Reports proved I was wrong. My home connection is at least twice as fast. God bless cable.

I'm here in Long Beach for a reason, I'm a little Dave's engagement party. I'll post some picture to the moblog as I take them.

Not much else is going on otherwise... just had to tie Vince's tie. That was really hard.

Tonight is gonna be a small family party. Just the gang, I guess. Still gonna get a little drunk though.

Lying is a good thing.

If you wife ever asks you the following question "Who's cooking do you like better, mine or ...?" Always say her. No matter what, her cooking is the best. Got it? Good.

No one I think is in my tree.

For the last month or so, I have been entranced by The Beatles. In particular, Strawberry Fields Forever off The Magical Mystery Tour album, it's such a beautifully written song that is complex in execution and simple in melody.

The track (for those who don't know) is comprised of two seperate takes and three different edits. From the beginning up to 0:55 is Take 7 the rest is the remaining of take 26. Now, the thing is that take 26 was in a completley different key and temp, but they figured if they slowed down the tempo of take 26 to match that of take 7 that the pitch also matched. Brilliant.

I'm more attracted to the psychedelic era of the Beatles, starting with Rubber Soul and up to Magical Mystery Tour is their, in my opinion, greatest work.

The early stuff is good too, I'd say Help! and A Hard Day's Night is the best from the earlier stuff.

As I was writing this, I was listening to alot of the older stuff and nevermind what I said, it's ALL good. I don't know what to say about a 40 year old band that's %110 better then any of the garbage that's played on the radio today. I'd rather listen to 'It's Only Love' 100 times in a row then that absolutley god awful song 'I Hate Everything About You' by god knows who. No one will remember them in 40 years that's for sure, hell, I can't even remember them now.

Mystery Pockets

I always seem to have some sort of paper in the pockets of my jacket. It's as if all the paper that YOU throw out is sent in to a wormhole which leads directly in to my pockets. My Old Navy peacoat has 4 subway coupons and and a SubClub card with three stamps and various receipts. My sweatshirt has a receipt for Costco. Freaky.

For you, the viewer.

So about a week ago, it was an extremely beautiful day in town. It was one of those days were you didn't want to stay inside (when I say it, you know it's something good to make me go outside). So I went around taking pictures and I put them up in the Gallery.
