For the last month or so, I have been entranced by The Beatles. In particular, Strawberry Fields Forever off The Magical Mystery Tour album, it's such a beautifully written song that is complex in execution and simple in melody.
The track (for those who don't know) is comprised of two seperate takes and three different edits. From the beginning up to 0:55 is Take 7 the rest is the remaining of take 26. Now, the thing is that take 26 was in a completley different key and temp, but they figured if they slowed down the tempo of take 26 to match that of take 7 that the pitch also matched. Brilliant.
I'm more attracted to the psychedelic era of the Beatles, starting with Rubber Soul and up to Magical Mystery Tour is their, in my opinion, greatest work.
The early stuff is good too, I'd say Help! and A Hard Day's Night is the best from the earlier stuff.
As I was writing this, I was listening to alot of the older stuff and nevermind what I said, it's ALL good. I don't know what to say about a 40 year old band that's %110 better then any of the garbage that's played on the radio today. I'd rather listen to 'It's Only Love' 100 times in a row then that absolutley god awful song 'I Hate Everything About You' by god knows who. No one will remember them in 40 years that's for sure, hell, I can't even remember them now.
